We may be a little bias, but in our opinion, nothing beats a wedding in Cornwall. From the coastal location to the laidback vibe, the delicious food and the friendly folk, there are so many reasons to say, ‘I Do’ here. While celebrations this year have been disrupted, postponed and rescheduled for many of our couples, we’re still looking to end the year on a high, which is why we’re talking all about our favourite ways to give your special day a Cornish touch. Without further ado, here are a few ideas and traditions that we can’t get enough of…
It goes without saying, Cornwall is one of the most beautiful corners of the world, which is why an outdoor wedding here is so appealing. Make the most of the Cornish coastline and countryside with an outdoor ceremony and reception in the sunshine, with nothing but views, fields and sea as far as the eye can see. We have a selection of tipis, tents and marquees to choose from.
Relaxed Aisle Style
We’re pretty relaxed here in Cornwall and the same goes for weddings, which is why many couples incorporate a Cornish spin for their aisle style. Lots of brides swap heels for sandals while grooms don a pair of sunnies – we find that couples head down to the beach straight after the ceremony so you want to make sure you’re ready to tackle the sand and sunshine!
Cornwall is renowned for its epic beaches and surfing, and together they make for the perfect wedding theme. We love seeing how our couples give their tipi wedding a Cornish touch with surfboard seating plans, personalised seashell place cards and tables named after local beaches – to name just a few!
Lots of couples go down the ‘cool coastal’ route with soft grey, blue and sea-foam green colour schemes, while others are inspired by Cornish wildflowers and go all out with bright, bold colours.
Fortunately, our tents offer a great blank canvas, so they work wonderfully alongside themes, style or colour palette.
Yummy Food & Drink!
The food and drink are a huge part of any celebration and luckily for you guys, Cornwall has plenty of delicious delights and super talented local suppliers on offer! If you really want to give your guests a taste of Cornish life, we suggest spoiling your friends and family with pasties, cheeses, cider, cream teas, seafood and of course, Cornish ice cream! Whether you want an informal BBQ or a mouth-watering grazing table, the options really are endless.
Lots of our brides and grooms have lawn games (such as oversized Jenga or croquet) during the afternoon reception to keep guests of all ages entertained and having fun. A Cornish tradition – and one that will make everyone smile – is welly wanging! Originating in the West Country back in the 70s, this is something you’ll often find at local village fêtes and parties.
Speaking of entertainment, Cornwall is renowned for its music and that is one way of getting the party started at your outdoor wedding. From a sea shanty band right through to a traditional folk band, you can music playing throughout your ceremony, reception, dinner and into the evening!
